Abstract

Transmission line is always troublesome to integrated circuits designers, but it could be helpful to distributed computing researchers. This paper proposes the Virtual Transmission Method (VTM), which is a distributed and stationary iterative algorithm to solve the sparse linear system extracted from linear resistor network. It tears the resistor network by virtual transmission lines to achieve distributed computing. VTM is proved to be convergent to solve arbitrarily-large linear resistor network on arbitrary number of processors. Numerical experiments show that this algorithm is stable, and its convergence speed is fast when the characteristic impedance matrix of virtual transmission lines is properly chosen.
